Description of key information

The biodegradability of dodecane-1-thiol has been read across from tert-dodecanethiol. Tert-dodecanethiol is not readily biodegradable. Oxygen consumption in vessels containing tert-dodecanethiol was negligible, indicating that it was not readily degradable under the conditions of the test.

The biodegradability of dodecane-1 -thiol has been read across from tert-dodecanethiol. Jenkins (1990) is a GLP-compliant, closed bottle ready biodegradability study following OECD guideline 301D, testing oxygen consumption and inlcuding reference compounds. The study is considered reliable and adequate for assessment. Oxygen consumption in vessels containing tert-dodecanethiol was negligible, indicating that it was not readily degradable under the conditions of the test.

Data are also available from Thiebaud (1995), which is available only as a summary and therefore cannot be fully evaluated. This is a guideline study which meets the validity criteria. The summary is considered reliable and suitable as a supporting study.
