Description of key information

Experimental results are available for the three trophic levels (algae, Daphnia and fish). Three reliable OECD guideline studies are available for calcium sulfate dihydrate which were conducted at a limit test of 100 mg/L. Supporting studies are also available which provide a weight of evidence approach showing that the toxicity of calcium sulfate is generally greater than the highest concentration tested and are greater than the maximum solubility of calcium sulfate in water. On this basis PNECs for the aquatic compartment have not been derived.
