Description of key information

The water solubility of the main degradation product 2-ethylhexan-1-ol (CAS 104-76-7) is reported to be 880 mg/L. This value is used in the risk assessment, since the main degradation product will be present in the environment instead of the parent, in view of the rapid hydrolysis of the peroxide.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
880 mg/L
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII (7.7), the test for water solubility does not need to be conducted as the substance undergoes rapid hydrolysis (see IUCLID section 5.1.2).

The water solubility of the main degradation product (CAS 104-76-7) is reported to be 880 mg/L (Amidon et al., 1974). This value is used in the risk assessment, since the main degradation product will be present in the environment instead of the parent, in view of the rapid hydrolysis of the peroxide.
