Description of key information

The self accelerating decomposition temperature (SADT) of di-(2-ethylhexyl) peroxydicarbonate is 0 °C. The OP-type of the substance (UN number 3113) is as follows: "Organic peroxide type C, liquid, temperature controlled". The test item does not detonate and does not deflgarate rapidly.

Additional information

Control temperature and emergency temperature are calculated based on the SADT. SADT is defined as the lowest temperature at which self-accelerating decomposition of a substance can take place that is packaged for transport.

In ADR 2011 the control temperature and the emergency temperature of di-(2-ethylhexyl) peroxydicarbonate are reported (−20°C and −10 °C, respectively). Based on these data conclusions on SADT can be drawn, which is 0 °C for the test item.

The UN number of di-(2-ethylhexyl) peroxydicarbonate is 3113. Thus the substance is an "Organic peroxide type C, liquid, temperature controlled".

Organic peroxides of type C are defined as follows:

Every preparation of organic peroxides that has explosive properties can be transported without the additional indicator "Explosive" if the substance/mixture in its transport packaging (maximum 50 kg) does neither detonate, deflagrate rapidly, nor explode thermally.

Thus it can be concluded that di-(2-ethylhexyl) peroxydicarbonate does not detonate and does not deflagrate rapidly.
