Description of key information

The log Kow for the test item was estimated to be 6.97.

However, in view of the rapid hydrolysis of the parent substance (t½ < 1 h at 5 °C) the main degradation product 2-ethyl-hexan-1-ol is the decisive molecule to be considered in the environmental risk assessment.

For 2-ethylhexan-1-ol the log Kow was estimated at 2.73 (QSAR).

As the test item bis(2-ethylhexyl) peroxydicarbonate is a substance difficult to test the log Kow was estimated using EPISuite (US EPA, 2012), and corresponding QMRF and QPRF documents were prepared. The predicted value is log Kow = 6.97.
