Flammability:
highly flammable

Additional information

Experience in the handling and use of this substance has given no indication that it has pyrophoric properties. Comparison of the chemical structure with the functional groups listed in the ECHA GIRCSA, Chapter R.7a: Endpoint Specific Guidance, R.7.1.10.3, May 2008, indicates the substance is unlikely to have pyrophoric properties. As a result, and according to Annex XI, section 1.2, based on the weight-of-evidence, testing for this endpoint is considered to be unnecessary.

Experience in the handling and use of the substance has indicated no properties associated with flammability on contact with water. Comparison of the chemical structure with the functional groups listed in the ECHA GIRCSA, Chapter R.7a: Endpoint Specific Guidance, R.7.1.10.3, May 2008, indicates the substance is unlikely to be flammable on contact with water. As a result, and according to Annex XI, section 1.2, based on the weight-of-evidence, testing for this endpoint is considered to be unnecessary.

In accordance with section 2 of REACH Annex XI, the flammability (solids and gases) studies (required in section 7.10) do not need to be conducted as the substance is a liquid. The self-ignition temperature of the substance = 415 °C (688.15 K) at 1019 hPa.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The submission substance has a flash point less than 23 ºC (closed-cup) (minimum flash point = -28 ºC closed-cup) and an initial boiling point of greater than 35 ºC (boiling point = 68 ºC). As a result, the substance meets the criteria for category 2 for flammability of liquids classification according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, Annex I section 2.6.
