Visually noticable effects on behaviour of fish:
At all test concentrations (control, 25, 50 and 100 mg/l) all fish out of a total of 10 showed normal swimming behaviour after 2, 24, 48, 72 and 96 h.

- Conclusions:
- No fish died.
LC0 (96 h) >= 65 mg/L (arithmetic mean of measured concentration)
(LC0 (96 h) >= 100 mg/L (if nominal concentration would be considered))
Reference
Description of key information
Determined LC0 in short-term-toxicity study to fish was ≥ 65 mg/L (nominal concentration ≥ 100 mg/L).
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Fresh water fish
Fresh water fish
- Effect concentration:
- 100 mg/L
Additional information
The authors of the short-term-toxicity study to fish evaluated a LC0 for the test substance diethyl carbonate. The highest nominal test concentration was 100 mg/L and according to the arithmetic mean of the analytically determined concentrations a LC0 ≥ 65 mg/L was evaluated for the test substance diethyl carbonate as no animals died during the 96 h incubation period. Based on these results and regarding that the highest nominal test concentration was 100 mg/L the author of this IUCLID data set assumed, that the LC50 value of the test substance should at least be 100 mg/L.
