First-aid measures

General information: If symptoms persist or in case of doubt, seek medical advice.

After inhalation: Supply fresh air; consult doctor in case of pain.

After skin contact:

Remove soiled clothes and shoes.

Clean effected skin thoroughly with water and a mild cleansing agent. No residues shall remain on the skin.

After eye contact: Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor.

After swallowing:

Rinse out mouth and then drink plenty of water.

Whether vomiting should be induced or not has to be decided by a doctor.

Seek medical treatment.

Information for doctor:

The following symptoms may occur:

After resorption of larger quantities:

Drowziness

Dizziness

Spasms

Euphoria

Narcotic effect

Treatment: Symptomatic treatment

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing agents:

Foam

Fire-extinguishing powder

Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Use fire fighting measures that suit the environment.

For safety reasons unsuitable extinguishing agents: Direct jet water

Special hazards caused by the material, its products of combustion or resulting gases:

Dangerous decomposition product see section "Stability and Reactivity"

Protective equipment: Wear self-contained respiratory protective device.

Additional information:

Heating leads to pressure increase entailing danger of bursting and explosion. Immediately cool neighbouring packages and containers with sprayed water and, if possible, remove them out of the danger zone.

Dispose of fire debris and contaminated fire fighting water in accordance with official regulations.

Accidental release measures

Person-related safety precautions:

Wear protective equipment. Keep unprotected persons away.

Ensure adequate ventilation

Use respiratory protective device against the effects of fumes/dust/aerosol.

Do not smoke - keep ignition sources away

Measures for environmental protection:

Do not allow product to reach sewage system or any water course.

Prevent seepage into sewage system, workpits and cellars.

Measures for cleaning/collecting:

Absorb with non-combustible material like sand, soil or diatomite.

Ensure adequate ventilation.

Make sure to recycle or dispose of in suitable receptacles.

Dispose contaminated materials as waste according to "Disposal Considerations".

Handling and storage

Handling:

Information for safe handling:

Ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace.

Ensure good interior ventilation, especially at floor level. (Fumes are heavier than air).

Keep away from heat and direct sunlight.

Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Avoid inhalation of vapours.

Information about protection against explosions and fires:

Keep ignition sources away - Do not smoke.

Protect against electrostatic charges.

Fumes can combine with air to form an explosive mixture.

No welding.

Work on containers and pipelines is permitted only after thorough purging and inerting.

Storage

Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles:

Store container tightly sealed at a cool and dry place with sufficient ventilation.

Provide solvent resistant, sealed floor.

Unsuitable material:

Various plastics

Information about storage in one common storage facility:

Store away from foodstuffs.

Store away from feed.

Further information about storage conditions:

Keep receptacle tightly sealed.

Protect from heat (steam pipes, radiators etc.) open flames, other ignition sources and direct sunlight.

Storage class 3 Flammable Liquids

Exposure controls / personal protection

Additional information about design of technical systems: No further data; see section " Handling and Storage"

Components with limit values that require monitoring at the workplace: Not required.

Additional information: The lists that were valid during the creation were used as basis.

Personal protective equipment

General protective and hygienic measures:

The usual precautionary measures should be adhered to when handling chemicals.

Remove all soiled and contaminated clothing immediately.

Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and feed.

Do not eat, drink, smoke or sniff while working.

Do not inhale gases / fumes / aerosols.

Avoid contact with the eyes and skin.

Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work.

After skin contact cleanse skin thorougly.

After contact with eyes rinse immediately.

Breathing equipment:

Not necessary if room is well-ventilated.

Use suitable respiratory protective device in case of insufficient ventilation.

In case of unintendd release:

In case of brief exposure or low pollution use a respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure use a repsiratory protective device that is independent of circulating air.

Short term filter device:

Filter A

Protection of hands:

Chemical resistant gloves

The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/ the substance/ the preparation.

Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation

To avoid skin problems reduce the wearing of gloves to the required minimum.

After use of gloves apply skin-cleaning agents and skin cosmetics.

Material of gloves:

Butyl rubber, BR

The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Penetration time of glove material:

Butyl 0.5 mm >= 240 minutes (In case of permanent contact do not use gloves more than 4 hours)

The exact penetration time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.

Not suitable are gloves made of the following materials:

Natural rubber, NR

Polychloropren rubber (CR)

Nitrile rubber, NBR

Fluorocarbon rubber (FKM)

Polyvinylchloride (PVC)

Eye protection: Goggles recommended during refilling.

Body protection: Flame retarding, antistatic protective clothing.

Stability and reactivity

Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided:

No decomposition if used and stored according to specifications.

To avoid thermal decomposition do not overheat.

Materials to be avoided: Strong oxidants

Dangerous reactions: Strong exothermic reaction with above-mentioned substances.

Dangerous products of decomposition:

In case of fire or at high temperatures the formation of following decomposition products is possible.

Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide

Irritant gases/vapours

Disposal considerations

Product:

Recommendation:

Must not be disposed of together with household garbage. Do not allow product to reach sewage system.

Disposal according to instructions of local authorities.

Uncleaned packagings:

Recommendation: Disposal must be made according to official regulations.
