First-aid measures

Most important symptoms and effects: no typical symptoms and effects known.

Description of first aid measures

General

In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical attention.

Inhalation

Inhalation of the dust may cause irritation in the respiratory tract. Move to fresh air, rest, half upright position, loosen clothing.

Skin

No special measures required.

Eye

Slightly irritating to eyes. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Eyelids should be held away from the eyeball to ensure thorough rinsing. Seek medical advice if irritation develops.

Ingestion

No special measures required.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media: water, Carbon dioxide, dry powder, foam

Unsuitable extinguishing media: none known.

Hazardous decomposition / combustion products: Nitrous gases may be produced

Protective equipment: Use self-contained respiratory equipment.

Fire and explosion hazard: In case of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes.

Accidental release measures

EDTN is used as an isolated transported intermediate only.

In case of accident: For personal protection see Section EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION

In case of accident: Collect as much as possible in a clean container for (preferable) reuse or disposal.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Flush remainder with water ( Absorb the remainder with e.g. vermiculite ). See section DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Use under well contained and controlled conditions only.

Fire and explosion prevention

In certain concentrations the product may form an explosive dust-air mixture.

Conditions for safe storage

Store in a cool, well ventilated area. The thermal stability depends on temperature and time of exposure.

Other information

Keep container tightly closed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

EDTN is used as an isolated transported intermediate only.

In case of accident and during maintenance;

Control parameters

Respiratory: In case of dust formation use dust mask. Dust exposure limits have to be respected.

Hand: Avoid contact with skin. Wash hands and contaminated skin thoroughly after handling

Eye: The usual precautions for handling chemicals should be observed.

Skin and body: The usual precautions for handling chemicals should be observed.

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to avoid: Reaction with strong oxidising agents. Reaction with strong acids and strong bases.

Chemical stability: Stable under recommended storage and handling conditions (see section on Handling and storage)

Incompatible materials: none known

Hazardous decomposition products: Emits toxic fumes under fire conditions (nitrous gases (NOx)).

Disposal considerations

Only to be used under well contained and controlled conditions. In case of accidental releases or maintenance: according to local regulations.
