Additional information

EDTN (ethylenediaminetetraacetonitrile) has no physical/chemical properties that require classification.

The industrial product consists of white organic wet crystals with 10% water.

The dried substance is an offwhite organic powder, only used for analytical purposes.

The melting point is 130°C.

The substance starts to decompose before boiling at 180°C.

The relative density of the dried substance is 1.264

The particle size distribution on dried product is: d10: 60 µm, d50: 124 µm and d90: 221 µm; amount < 10 µm: 1% and amount < 100 µm: 35%.

The vapour pressure is low, below 4.20×10 -4 Pa (<3.15×10 -6 torr) at 25°C.

The Pow is < 1 (Log Pow < 0), so no bioaccumulation is expected.

At pH 5, 7, and 9, the water solubility is 304, 299, and 327 mg/L, respectively, at 20°C, so the substance is moderately soluble.

No surface activity is expected, because of molecular structure: ther is no hydrophobic tail.

The substance is not autoflammable, not flammable, has no explosive, oxidising or self heating properties (in addition, the industrial product consists of 10% water).
