Endpoint:
solubility in organic solvents / fat solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2018-01-29 to 2018-06-14
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
other: OECD 105
GLP compliance:
no
Key result
Medium:
n-octanol
Solubility:
88.67 g/L
Temp.:
19.9 °C
Test substance stable:
yes
Details on results:
The measured concentration of the test substance did not change with increasing dissolution duration in the climatic exposure test cabinet at 30°C (<15%; Table 2; Figure 1-4).
The highest measured concentration was 92.10 g/L after 48 h dissolution at 30°C. The change between the 48-h and 72-h sample was <6%.
The average dissolved concentration of test substance in n-octanol was 88.67 mg/L.
Conclusions:
The flask method revealed a n-octanol solubility for octadecanoic acid, reaction products with acetic acid and tetraethylenepentamine of n-octanol solubility: 88.67±2.44 g/L (at 19.9°C and pH 5-6)
Executive summary:

The n-octanol solubility of octadecanoic acid, reaction products with acetic acid and tetraethylenepentamine was determined according to the flask method described in the OECD Guideline 105 (1995) using n-octanol instead of water. Therefore, the test substance was shaken in n-octanol at 30°C (for 24, 48 and 72 h) and equilibrated afterwards at 20°C for further 24 h.

The obtained samples were measured using HPLC. The n-octanol solubility of octadecanoic acid, reaction products with acetic acid and tetraethylenepentamine was determined to be: n-octanol solubility: 88.67±2.44 g/L (at 19.9°C and pH 5-6)

Description of key information
