Additional information

Based on the information obtained by QC lab Proviron Fine Chemicals N.V (in Material Safety Data Sheet) it can be concluded that Fatty acids,C16-18 and C18-unsatd.,isopentyl esters, epoxidized is a light yellow liquid with a mild characteristic odour, has a density at 20°C of 0.89 kg/L, a flash point of 203°C and a viscosity of 31cP (20°C). The melting point was estimated (using DSC scan) to be -8°C at atmospheric pressure. The boiling point was determined (using OECD 103) to be 320 °C at 760 mmHg. This compound is a liquid, so the test for particle size distribution can be waived (a non solid or granular form according to column 2 of Annex VII section 7.14). The vapour pressure of fatty acids,C16-18 and C18-unsatd.,isopentyl esters, epoxidized is 0.001 Pa at a temperature of 25 °C and the log Kow value is 8.6 (using QSAR modelling tool EPI suite, v 4.10). The solubility was calculated to be 0.00021 mg/L at 20 °C. The test for surface tension can be waived because the compound does not contain any surface active groups (REACH Annex VII, section 7.6). Based on the structure and experience with fatty acids,C16-18 and C18-unsatd.,isopentyl esters, epoxidized, pyrophoric properties or flammability on contact with water is not expected, so the flammability can be waived . The substance only contains chemical groups including oxygen and the oxygen balance is -266, so the test for explosiveness and oxidizing properties can be waived (Annex VII, section. 7.11 & 7.13). The auto-ignition temperature of this compound is 324°C. fatty acids,C16-18 and C18-unsatd.,isopentyl esters, epoxidized is an organic compound which is stable in most organic solvents and thus the stability is not considered to be critical, so this study can be waived. The substance does not contain functional groups which can dissociate, the dissociation constant is irrelevant and the study can be waived.
