The registered substance will hydrolyse rapidly in contact with water. The interim hydrolysis products are progressively shorter alpha-omega siloxanediols and the ultimate hydrolysis product relevant to the CSA is methylsilanetriol. At higher concentrations, polymeric species are expected to dominate. Over the long-term, further degradation in the environment, e.g. to silicate, is thought on grounds of chemical properties, to be possible.

Biodegradation in water studies with structural analogues and soil biodegradation studies with analogues and methylsilanediol demonstrate that no significant biodegradation of the hydrolysis products will take place.
