Description of key information

Executive summary
In the absence of specific ADME data for bis(2-ethylhexyl)succinate (CAS 2915-57-3), the physico-chemical properties, the results of in vitro studies and acute and repeat dose toxicity studies, and environmental fate studies for bis(2-ethylhexyl)succinate (CAS 2915-57-3) and the read-across substance bis(2-ethylhexyl)adipate (CAS 103-23-1) have been used to determine a toxicokinetic profile.
These results indicate some extent of oral absorption. However in the absence of quantitative information (and likely hood of metabolism by gut flora prior to absorption), for the purposes of human risk assessment, 50% bioavailability following oral exposure is assumed.
In the absence of quantitative information and absence of effects in relevant toxicity studies, estimation of mammalian dermal absorption is made at 25% in accordance with principles adopted by the EFSA guidance on estimating dermal absorption of pesticide active substances.
No acute or repeat dose inhalation toxicology data is available for the registered substance or the read-across substance. In the absence of any quantitative data, absorption of the compound is considered to be 100%.
After systemic absorption, rapid and complete metabolism to endogenous substance or waste products is considered highly likely to ensue.
