Guideline:
EU Method A.13 (Pyrophoric Properties of Solids and Liquids)
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The flammability of this powder was determined using a test mould and an ignition source. The test substance was loosely filled into the mould which was then dropped three times from a height of 2 cm onto the fume cupboard floor. The mould was removed from its holder and excess substance scraped off with a straight edge. An asbestos substitute board was placed on the mould, the apparatus inverted, and the mould removed. The board was then placed in the draught box in a fume cupboard. An attempt was made to ignite one end of the pile; the flame was held in position for two minutes.
