Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

In case of inhalation:
Remove from exposure, taking care to avoid inhaling vapours. Keep warm rest. Obtain medical attention if symptoms appear.
In case of skin contact:
Wash skin with water. Obtain medical attention if soreness or redness persists.
In case of eyes contact:
Immediately flood the eye with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, holding the eye open. Remove contact lenses if possible. Obtain medical attention.
In case of ingestion:
Do not induce vomiting. Obtain medical attention if symptoms appear or if large quantities have been ingested. Accidental ingestion at a level high enough to be dangerous to health is unlikely.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:
Causes eye irritation and skin sensitisation.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:
If skin irritation or rash occurs, get medical advice/attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:
Suitable extinguishing media: Dry powder, Water spray, Foam.
Unsuitable extinguishing media: Not available.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture Heating or fire can release toxic gas: Carbon oxides.
Advice for firefighters: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Use water spray to cool unopened containers.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
For non-emergency personnel: Use respirator when performing operations involving potential accidental exposure to vapour of the product. Avoid breathing vapours. Keep unnecessary people away; isolate hazard area and deny entry. Consider need for evacuation. Stay up wind and keep out of low areas where vapour may accumulate and ignite.
For emergency responders: Wear an appropriate NIOSH/MSHA approved respirator if vapour is generated. See also the information in "For nonemergency personnel".
Environmental Precautions: Prevent product from entering drains in case of spillage.
Methods and material for Containment and Cleaning up: Sweep up or vacuum up spillage and collect in suitable container for disposal and wear full protective clothing incl. goggles and gloves. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:
Protective measures: Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.
Advice on general occupational
hygiene: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Eating, drinking and smoking should be prohibited in areas where this material is handled, stored and processed. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Workers should wash hands and face after usage. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas.
Conditions for safe storage, including
any incompatibilities: To maintain product quality, do not store in heat or direct sunlight. Keep container tightly closed. Keep in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.
Specific end use(s): Not applicable.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.
Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment:
Eye/face protection: Tightly fitting safety goggles.
Skin protection
Hand protection: Suitable material: Nitrile rubber
Break through time: > 480 min
Take note of the information given by the producer concerning permeability and break through times, and of special workplace conditions (mechanical strain, duration of contact).
Body protection: Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place. No special protective equipment required.
Respiratory protection: In the case of vapour formation use a respirator with an approved filter. Respirator with a vapour filter (EN 141).
Thermal hazards: Wear suitable protective clothing to prevent heat.
Environmental exposure controls: Avoid discharge into the environment. According to local regulations, Federal and official regulations.
Use in tightly closed reaction vessel only. Waste or remaining substance has to be incinerated in an authorized incineration facility equipped with flue-gas scrubbing. Contaminated process waters have to be pre-treated in an industrial waste water treatment plant before discharging.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: The substance is stable under normal storage and handling conditions.
Chemical stability: Stable under normal usage conditions.
Possibility of hazardous reactions: No hazardous reactions when stored and handled according to instructions.
Conditions to avoid: Incompatible materials. High temperatures. Exposure to sunlight. Proximity to sources of ignition.
Incompatible materials: Strong acids and strong bases, Reducing agents, Strong oxidizing agents.
Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon oxides.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods: Dispose of in accordance with all applicable local and national regulations. Use recovery/recycling where feasible, otherwise incineration is the recommended method of disposal. Empty containers may contain hazardous residues. Do not cut, puncture or weld on or near to the container. Labels should not be removed from containers until they have been cleaned. Contaminated containers must not be treated as household waste. Containers should be cleaned by appropriate methods and then re-used or disposed of by landfill or incineration as appropriate. Do not incinerate closed containers.
