Executive summary:

The flammability of the test item was determined in a EC A.10 guideline study. In the preliminary test the test item was grinded and formed into a powder train about 250 mm long by 20 mm wide by 10 mm high on a cool, impervious, low heat-conduction base plate, across the draught of a fume hood. A hot flame from a gas burner was applied to one end of the powder train for 2 minutes. It was noted whether combustion was propagated along 200 mm of the train within the 4 minute test period. The test item ignited and burned along the train in more than 4 minutes in the preliminary test. Due to this the test item was not classified as a flammable solid and no further testing was required.

 

The study is a GLP compliant guideline experimental study, suitable for assessing this endpoint without restrictions.
