Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The log Koc for Diurea 8 is calculated to be 5.45 - 14.03 using the Gerstl equation (Gerstl 1990). The log Koc for Diurea 8 was determined to be 4.97 - 10.0 using the MCI method and 4.81 - 10.25 using the log Kow QSAR models (US EPA 2009). However, Diurea 8 only occurs in a base oil grease and, in realistic use scenarios, the formulated greases are specifically designed to minimise leaching of the thickener.

The Henry's Law Constant of Diurea 8 was determined to range from 1.35E-13 to 3.91E-11 Pa-m3/mol using the bond estimation method and from 9.39E-6 to 1.04E-2 Pa-m3/mol using the group contribution method (US EPA 2009). It is expected that Diurea 8 would not enter the atmosphere and therefore volatilisation is not considered to be a relevant environmental transport process.

The isolated thickener is estimated to have a water solubility of less than 0.01 mg/L, a vapour pressure of less than 10 E-10 Pa and a log octanol-water partition coefficient of greater than 6 (Dawick 2012). On the basis of the physical-chemical properties, Diurea 8 is expected to reside within the grease base oil matrix. As such, Diurea 8 is not expected to partition to water, soil or air and hence is not anticipated to be available in the environment.
