Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The surface tension values of 2.17 and 5.01 mg/L solutions of Ceraphyl 55 were determined at 20.1°C to be 73.05 and 57.73 mN/m respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
73.05
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
2.17

Additional information

The surface tension of two concentrations of Ceraphyl 55 was determined in a GLP-compliant, ring method test following OECD guideline 115 (Covance 2006). The distinct difference between the results from the nominal 2 mg/L and 5 mg/L preparations is considered to be due to the presence of micelles at the higher concentration, which have given rise to an increased surface activity.
