The aquatic toxicity of KGA was evaluated based on the availability of a fish acute toxicity study and ECOSAR estimation models. The fish toxicity study was a 96 hour semi-static test with the zebra fish, Danio rerio. After 96 hours of exposure to a series of test concentrations unadjusted for pH, the LC50 value was determined to be between 1024 and 2340 mg/L. When fish were exposed to the highest concentration of 2340 mg/L that had been pH-adjusted to neutral, no toxicity at all was observed, indicating that the toxicity observed in the unadjusted test was due to pH effects. Modeling of aquatic toxicity to Daphnia and to algae using the ECOSAR estimation software resulted in LC50 values calculated to be significantly above the water solubility. Based on the weight of the evidence, KGA is not toxic to aquatic organisms.
