Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The hydrolysis of 1-chloro-1,1-difluoroethane is negligible.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One data is available, the results indicated that 1-chloro-1,1-difluoroethane has a very low hydrolysis loss: a half life of 16,000 years was determined by a neutral reaction (pH 7, 25 °C) using first order calculation (Jeffers 1996). It is recognized that fluorinated compounds form stable hydrates, indicating very strong hydrogen-bonded networks. In the assessment the hydrolysis rate constant will be set at 6.93E-07 d-1.
