Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH (REGULATION (EC) No 1907/2006) Annex IX, the sediment simulation testing (required in section 9.2.1.4) does not need to be conducted as the substance does not have a high potential for adsorption to sediment and is highly volatile.  This is supported by the n-octanol/water partition coefficient information indicating that diethyl ether has a Log Kow <3 (=1.05) as well as by the high Henry Law constant and vapour pressure.

This also holds true for simulation testing on ultimate degradation in surface water (9.2.1.2) and 9.2.3. identification of degradation products.

Additionally, this is supported by the outcome of exposure and risk assessment showing that risks are well controlled based on conservative PNECs using high uncertainty factors. This assessment is in line with Annex XI (3) REACH.
