Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Guideline study according to German national standards.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: DIN 38412; part 15
GLP compliance:
no
Analytical monitoring:
no

Details on test solutions:
PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION
- Method: A stock solution of 1g/L was prepared in destilled water by adding the test material to the water. The test concentrations were achieved by dilution of the stock solution.
- Evidence of undissolved material (e.g. precipitate, surface film, etc.): the test solution was clear up to the 4.64 mg/L treatment. Starting from the 10 mg/L treatment the test solution was turbid.
Test organisms (species):
Leuciscus idus
Details on test organisms:
TEST ORGANISM
- Source: Fischzucht Eggers, Hohenwestedt, Germany
- Length at study initiation (length definition, mean, range and SD): 4-6 cm

Test type:
static
Water media type:
freshwater
Limit test:
no
Total exposure duration:
96 h
Test temperature:
20 °C
pH:
7.7 - 8.0
Dissolved oxygen:
7.3 - 8.6 mg/L
Nominal and measured concentrations:
Based on the results of a range finding study, the following concentrations (nominal) were tested: 0, 2.15, 4.64, 10.0, 21.5, and 46.4 mg/L
Details on test conditions:
TEST SYSTEM
- Test vessel: 10 L aquaria

Additional information

The acute aquatic toxicity of the Sulfonium compound mixture was investigated in a guideline study according to DIN 38412, with the golden orfe (Leuciscus idus) as test organism (BASF 1987). After 96 hours of exposure the LC50 was approximately 14.6 mg/L nominal test substance concentration.
