Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The result of the BCF screening calculations (US EPA 2009, Connell and Hawker 1988) indicates that only one component out of the 18 possible structures present in Diurea 8 meets the criteria for bioaccumulative (BCF >2000 L/Kg). On this basis, Diurea 8 is not anticipated to be bioaccumulative.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Diurea 8 only occurs in a grease base and, in realistic use scenarios, the formulated greases are specifically designed to minimise leaching of the thickener. The isolated Diurea 8 is estimated to have a water solubility of less than 0.01 mg/L and the log octanol-water partition coefficient is predicted to be above 6 (Dawick 2012). On this basis, Diurea 8 is expected to reside within the grease base oil matrix and hence is not anticipated to be bioavailable.
