Results
Pre-test for boiling point
Observation of the pre-test for melting point are presented in the following table.

Observations

Temperature (°C)

Colourless condensate was seen, test item contracted

160

Upper layer glazed (ca. 0.5 cm), colour of test item was yellow and getting darker

210

colour lightly-brown

270

Smoking

299

colour brown, upper layer was shot out, test tube was taken out of the aluminium block

330

After cooling down the test sample remained as dark brown solid. The test item decomposed.

As the test item showed decomposition, the study was terminated

Discussion

In the pre-test, the test item showed signs of decomposition before boiling indicated by colour change.

The study was terminated. The boiling point of the test item could not be determined under these circumstances because of decomposition before boiling.
