Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reliable short-term toxicity tests results are available for freshwater fish (Lepomis macrochirus), invertebrates (Daphnia magna) and algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) for the registration substance. The relevant short-term values are:

Fish: LC50 (96 h): 345 mg/l

Daphnia: EC50 (48 h): 583 mg/l; NOEC: 323 mg/l

Algae: ErC50 (72 h): 275 mg/l; NOEC (effects on cell number): 104 mg/l

An activated sludge respiration inhibition 3 hour EC50 value of >1000 mg/l and NOEC value of ≥1000 mg/l (nominal) were determined in a reliable study.

These data are key studies.

The rapid hydrolysis of the registration substance (half-life <12 h at pH 7 and 20-25 °C) means it is likely that the test organisms in each test were exposed primarily to the hydrolysis products, [3-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)propyl]silanetriol, vinylsilanetriol, acetic acid/acetates and methanol.
