Description of key information

Non-graphitic carbon fibres within the scope of this registration consist of highly condensed carbon atoms in ring structures. The nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen atoms which have not been driven off during manufacture (carbonisation step at temperatures of approximately 900 °C up to > 2200 °C) are only present in covalently bound form. Therefore and because of its low solubility in water neither hydrolysis nor biodegradation nor adsorption is relevant for the environmental fate of the substance.
