Hydrolysis:

The potential of the test substance to undergo hydrolytic degradation in an aquatic environment was studied in GLP conformance according to the procedures outlined in EEC's Annex V, Part C.7.2 and OECD Guideline No. 111. A Preliminary Test was performed at 50.0 ± 0.5 °C at three pH values: 4, 7, and 9. The test solutions were analyzed for the test substance using high performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet light detection (HPLC/UV). The change in test substance concentration, over time, was calculated and reported as the percent hydrolysis. Less than 10 percent hydrolysis was observed in the pH 4, 7, and 9 test systems after 120 hours, therefore no further testing (Test 1, Test 2, or Test 3) was required. The test substance is hydrolytically stable (half-life greater than one year) at 25°C.

Biodegradation:

BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) determinations were carried out for the test substance using the EU Method C.6 (Degradation, Chemical Oxygen Demand) cited as Directive 84/449/EEC, C.9 and EU Method C.5 (Degradation: Biochemical Oxygen Demand) cited as Directive 84/449/EEC, C.8. The study was carried out in accordance with the OECD principles of Good Laboratory Practice.

The 5-day BOD value was found to be an average of 0.0069 grams of oxygen per gram of the test substance at percent concentrations of 0.020, 0.030, and 0.060. The 20-day BOD value was found to be an average of 0.011 grams of oxygen per gram of the test substance at percent concentrations of 0.020 and 0.030. The COD result is the mean of three measurements and was found to be 0.791 grams of COD per gram of the test substance. The test material is not readily biodegradable based on a BOD5/COD ratio less than 0.5. The BOD5/COD ratio was found to be 0.0087.

Adsorption/Desorption:

The study was performed in November 2012 according to OECD Guideline 121 (Estimation of the Adsorption Coefficient (Koc) on Soil and on Sewage Sludge using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)) and GLP.

Retention times measured for LZ705 (2.75 min (Method 1) and 2.76 min (Method 2)) are lower than the retention time of the first eluting standard Acetanilide (3.22 min (Method 1) and 3.24 min (Method 2)). This result shows that log Koc of LZ705 is lower than the calibrated range. As the Acetanilide is the reference item with lowest Koc value, no further test was performed. Using the HPLC method the log Koc of LZ705 was determined to be< 1.25.
