Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Additional information

Appearance:

The substance is a colourless to orange, liquid with a characteristic amine-like odour.

Melting/Freezing point:

The reported freezing point was determined to be < - 80 °C (< 193.15 K).

No further testing was necessary, as the sample was still liquid at -80°C according to EC Method A.1, OECD 102.

Boiling point:

The boiling point of LZ705 was found to be 107.3 +/- 0.20°C (95% confidence interval), i.e. 380.5 K according to EC Method A.2, OECD 103 using the Siwoloboff method.

Relative density:

The relative density was determined to be 1.060 g/cm3 +/- 0.0003 (with 95% confidence interval) at 20 °C according to EC Method A.3, OECD 109

using the pycnometer method.

Particle size distribution:

In accordance with REACH Annex VII column 2, section 7.14 experimental determination of Granulometry was waived as the substance is marketed and used in a non solid form. The test substance is liquid at 20 °C and 1013 hPa.

Vapor pressure:

The vapour pressure of LZ705 was calculated as 1984 Pa at 25°C according to OECD 104 resp. EU Method A.4, using the static method.

Partition coefficient:

A study according to EU Method A.8, OECD Guideline 117 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), HPLC Method) was carried out. The determined

log Pow (based on last eluting peak) < 0.91. The estimated Pow (based on last eluting peak): < 8.2.

Water solubility:

The study was conducted in compliance with GLP standards and according to EC Method A.6 and OECD Guideline 105 (shake-flask method). The

water solubility was determined to be greater than 1000 g/L at ca. 25 °C. Therefore, the test item LZ705 is miscible with water at room temperature.

Surface tension:

The surface tension of an aqueous solution of LZ705 was determined as 72.14 +/- 0.06 mN/m at 19.8°C. As the determined surface tension was greater than 60 mN/m, the test item is classified as "not surface active".

Flash point:

The study was performed under GLP in year 2012 according to EU Method A.9 (equilibrium method closed cup), OPPTS 830.6315 and UN Manual Test Methods 32.4. In the pre-test, no flash point was detected. Heating was performed up to 105 °C. At this temperature, boiling was observed and the experiment was stopped.

Auto flammability:

The study was performed under GLP in year 2012 according to EU Method A.15 (Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases)). LZ705 was determined to have an auto-ignition temperature of 330°C.

Flammability:

In accordance with REACH Annex XI this study is scientifically unjustified. The flammability of liquids is determined on basis of their flashpoint (in combination with their boiling point), their ability to emit flammable gases upon contact with water and their pyrophoric properties. The molecular structure of LZ705 does not contain groups that indicate potential reactivity with water or pyrophoric properties. Experimental determination was waived.

Explosiveness:

The expert statement was prepared in year 2012 following the UN-Handbook, Appendix A 6.1 and GHS 2.1.4.2.2 (a) and following REACH (RIP 3.3, TGD) definition. Explosive properties of the test item are not expected and therefore the test item is classified as not explosive.

Oxidizing properties:

The expert statement was prepared in year 2012, following the definition of the EU-Method (liquids) and GHS. The test item does not contain any compounds with any structures or groups associated with oxidizing properties. Oxidising properties of the test item are not expected and therefore the test item is classified as not oxidising.
