Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Two GLP guideline studies on the acute toxicity of 2-ethyl-2-(((1-oxoisooctadecyl)oxy)methyl)-1,3-propanediyl bis (isooctadecanoate) (CAS 68541-50-4) to fish are available. The key study was conducted according to OECD guideline 203 (van Egmond, 1996). Zebra fish (Brachydanio rerio) were exposed to the test substance in a semi-static test system for 96 hours. The test solution was renewed every 24 hours and the substance concentration was determined analytically. At the end of the exposure period a LC50 > 48 mg/L (NOEC >= 48 mg/L) was determined based on the measured substance concentration.
A second study on the acute toxicity of the substance was also accomplished in a semi-static test system (Guhl, 1992). The study followed guideline ISO 7346-1 and was conducted with Zebra fish (Danio rerio) as test organisms. The fish were exposed to the substance for 96 hours. A LC50 > 10000 mg/L based on nominal test concentrations was reported.

Based on the results of the acute toxicity tests toxic effects on fish are not expected up to the water solubility limit of the substance (<0.05 mg/L).
