Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The hydrolysis potential of the registered substance was not investigated experimentally due to the low water solubility of the substance; a waiving argument has been provided in accordance with REACH Annex VIII, Column 2. This waiver is supported by a read-across study conducted on silicone dioxide, which is structurally similar to the registered substance. Silicone dioxide did not rapidly hydrolyse in the study.

Biodegradability studies are not required for inorganic chemicals as they cannot be tested for biodegradability (as stated in the ECHA document 'Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment', Chapter R.7b: Endpoint specific guidance, Figure R. 7.9 -1, page 206). In addition, inorganic substances also have low potential for bioaccumulation so no bioaccumulation study was conducted.

Based on the physical and chemical properties of the substance e.g. low water solubility and a very low partition coefficient the substance does not need to be tested for an adsorption coefficient.
