Additional information

A study was conducted according to OECD TG 105, Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Part A A.6 and OPPTS 830.7840 to determine the water solubility of the test item. In a preliminary test the water solubility was determined to be lower than 10 mg/L. Thus the column elution method was chosen for the main study. 27.5 mg of test item was dissolved in 25 mL methanol, and this solution was added to the inert support material (glass beads). The solvent was completely evaporated and the dry support material was poured into the water-filled microcolumn. Then the flow through the column was started at a rate of about 25 mL/h. The recirculating pump was allowed to run until equilibration is established.7 successive samples were taken after 93 to 216.5 hours. The samples were diluted and measured by HPLC-FL method. In conclusion the water solubility of DOCU Red 116 was determined to be 0.8 ± 0.07 µg/L (95% confidence interval) at 20 °C ± 0.5 °C using the column elution method. There was no evidence of chemical instability during the main test. No observations were made which might cause doubts on the validity of the study outcome. Therefore, the result of the study is considered valid.
