Description of key information

Experimental determination of the partition coefficient of charcoal was performed using the HPLC method in accordance with OECD guideline 117 respectively EU-method.
It is thus concluded, that charcoal has a log Pow of < 1.474.

Additional information

Experimental determination of the partition coefficient of charcoal was performed using the HPLC method in accordance with OECD guideline 117 respectively EU-method.

The results of the tests on several samples of charcoal (with different contents of fixed carbon) were the following:

a) log Pow <=0.3 (Temp.25 oC, pH ca. 5.5, C-Fix = 80.5%). b)log Pow 0.3 <= 1.44 (Temp. 25 oC, pH ca. 5.5, C-Fix = 73.3%). c) log Pow 0.3 <= 1.474 (Temp. 25 oC, pH ca. 5.5, C-Fix = 88.7%). It is thus concluded, that charcoal has a log POWof < 1.474.
