Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

"Sulfonation products of (esterification products of C9-11 (branched and linear) alkyl-(mono-, di- and tri-)glycosides with maleic anhydride) with disodium sulfite" does not resulted a dangerous substance for aquatic organisms in the short-term studies performed. The lowest eco-toxicity value, the EC50of 9.27 mg/L based on algal biomass, does not involve neither an acute hazard for the aquatic environment, nor a long-term risk, because of the rapid degradation of the substance and of its low bioaccumulation potential.

Conclusion on classification

The test substance "Sulfonation products of (esterification products of C9-11 (branched and linear) alkyl-(mono-, di- and tri-)glycosides with maleic anhydride) with disodium sulfite" does not meet the criteria for the environmental hazard classification under Regulation EC 1272/2008.

Although the read-across EC50 values resulted in toxicity studies to fish, daphnia and algae are < 100 mg/l, the substance is ready biodegradable and the logKow (determined by read-across) is < 4 (-2.8).
