In the non GLP Klimisch 1 key study from Frischmann (2013), the water solubility of Sodium bis (C11-14-isoalkyl, C13-rich) sulfosuccinate was determined according to OECD 105 and EU method A.6. The water solubility was determined to be >170 g/L at 20°C.
The results of this study are considered relevant and reliable for the risk assessment.

Thus, the water solubility of the test item Sodium bis (C11-14-isoalkyl, C13-rich) sulfosuccinate depends on the nominal saturation concentration.
In a second test, the following aliquots of Sodium bis (C11-14-isoalkyl, C13-rich) sulfosuccinate were added to 10 mL of water and stirred slowly for 1 hour:

While being added to the water, cloudy solutions with increasing viscosity were being formed, resulting in a pasty gel after the addition of 2.05 g test item to 10 ml water.
With 2.05 g of test item being mixed into 10 mL of water, a pasty gel with a total weight of approximately 12.05 g has been formed. This is equivalent to 17.0 % (w/w) of test item in solution/gel.
As the density of the water will significantly increase with addition of the test item, it can be concluded that water solubility is about 170 g/L, resulting in a gel.
Due to the fact, that the formation of the gel is a continuous process and no discrete point can be identified at which dissolution in water switches to gelling, the water solubility can be approximated to > 170 g/L.
