The adsorption/desorption coefficient of dipentamethylene thiurame hexasulphide was estimated to be 5.54 (log value). The ready biodegradability of dipentamethylene thiurame hexasulphide was evaluated in a study performed in accordance with OECD testing guideline 301 F and GLP requirements. The maximum level of biodegradation was 0% in 28 days. Therefore, according to these results, the substance is not considered as readily biodegradable.

An adaptation of an OECD 111 study have been performed following environmental conditions in a Weight-of-Evidence approach to rule out the persistence criterion. Based on the results of this study, it can be conclude that none of DPTH and its largest degradation products are persistent in the environment.
