The ready biodegradability of dipentamethylene thiuram hexasulfide was evaluated in a study performed in accordance with OECD testing guideline 301F and GLP requirements. According to the results, DPTH is not considered readily biodegradable.

However, a study based on an adaptation of the OECD 111 guideline confirmed that DPTH and its largest degradation products (dipentamethylene thiuram pentasulfide and dipentamethylene thiuram heptasulfide) will not persist in the water.

Additional information is available in the position paper attached to the IUCLID dossier.
