PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
1,2-dichloropropan-2-ol
Type of composition:
boundary composition of the substance
State / form:
liquid
Reference substance:
1,2-dichloropropan-2-ol
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

1,3 -Dichloropropan-2 -ol is not considered to be a PBT substance. The relative biodegradation values calculated from the O2 measurements performed during the test period of 28 days revealed no biologically relevant biodegradation of 1,3-dichloro-2-propanol at 2mg/L and 5 mg/L therefore the substance would be considered to be potenitally P/vP based on the screening criteria for biodegradation. In addition the substance would not be expected to undergo abiotic degradation in the environment as the as the calculated t 1/2 was determined to be >102 days at environmentally relevant pH.The T criteria is fulfilled based on the substance being a known carcinogen and classified accordingly and also is classifed as STOT RE 2. However the experimental Log Kow value was 0.8 which indicates that the substance is unlikely to bioaccumulate.
