Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In the assessment of fatty acids, C9 -13 neo, potassium salts, read-across to the assessment entities soluble potassium substances and neodecanoic acid is applied since the ions of fatty acids, C9 -13 neo, potassium salts determine its fate and toxicity in the environment. Potassium as essential element has a very low potential for toxicity to aquatic microorganisms. Potassium is added to the synthetic sewage feed according to the activated sludge respiration inhibition test (OECD 209, 2010). Thus, potassium may be assumed to have a low potential for toxicity to aquatic microorganisms. In addition, an inhibition of nitrification was not observed at the highest test concentration of neodecanoic acid resulting in a NOEC ≥ 200 mg/L. Thus, fatty acids, C9 -13 neo, potassium salts has a low potential for toxicity to microorganisms.
