Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In the assessment of fatty acids, C9 -13 neo, potassium salts, read-across to the assessment entities soluble potassium substances and neodecanoic acid is applied since the ions of fatty acids, C9 -13 neo, potassium salts determine its fate and toxicity in the environment. Potassium is an essential macronutrient for algae and cyanobacteria, a component of all aquatic algae test media (OECD TG 201, 2006) and has a very low potential for toxicity. The toxicity of neodecanoic acid was evaluated in freshwater, yielding a 72-h EL50 of >100 mg/L for the inhibition of growth of P. subcapitata. Thus, fatty acids, C9 -13 neo, potassium salts has a low potential for toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria.
