Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Due to the insolubility of the test substance, the requirement to perform a short-term toxicity to fish test has been waived.

However, a test has been carried out for the effects of trimethyl(octadecyloxy)silane on mortality of fish:

A 96 hour EC50 value of >saturated solution (>1.3 mg/l DOC) (highest concentration tested) was determined for the effects of the test substance on mortality of Danio rerio, in accordance with OECD test guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test). The saturated concentration level caused no mortality or non-lethal effects. The NOEC is therefore reported as the saturated solution: NOEC = 1.3 mg/l DOC. Due to the hydrolysis half-life of the test substance, the static test design and the test solution preparation method, it is likely the fish were primarily exposed to the hydrolysis products of the registration substance.
