Description of key information

The reaction with OH radicals is expected to be the primary degradation mechanism for beta-alanine in air. The estimated half-life for this reaction of 11.6 hours would indicate a low level of concern for persistence of beta-alanine in air.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Using the estimation program EpiSuite (AopWin v1.92) the calculated atmospheric half-life for beta-aniline accounts for 11.645 hours assuming OH-radicals as sensitisers.
