Based on its physical chemical properties, HFC 227ea is not expected to bioaccumulate in the environment and it has a low potential of adsorption (log Kow = 2.29).

Hydrolysis of the substance is unlikely to occur as it contains no hydrolysable functionalities.

HFC 227ea was not found ready biodegradable in two screening tests (Katsuura, 1993 and Teufel, 1992). Simulation studies were not performed. Environmental partitioning is expected to occur almost exclusively in the atmosphere .

Photodegradation with OH radicals is the main mode of degradation in the environment (IPCC, 2001).
