Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The test substance is considered to be easily eliminated from water mainly due to biodegradation. Exposure of soil organisms may potentially occur thru the transfer of activated sludge to soil. However, the log Koc of the uncharged molecule is below 3. The pKa of the chemical is 7.43 indicating that under acidic and neutral conditions the chemical is at least partly present as a cation. Cations have a a higher potential to bind to soil particles and the organic matrix in soil. Franco & Trapp (2008, 2009, 2010) published a method to calculate the adsorption potential of charged molecules. As a result charged molecules of the chemical have a log Koc value of 2.5. This log Koc indicates a low adsorption potential and hence binding to sewage sludge is unlikely. As a consequence a transfer to the soil compartment is not expected and tests on terrestrial organisms are not deemed necessary. Thus, the risk assessment will be based on EPM.
