Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Accumulation in terrestrial organisms is unlikely and therefore a study is not considered necessary.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Acute toxicity to earthworms is low, reported 14 day LC50 value was >1000 mg/kg. The results of the Soil Microbial Community Tests (OECD 216 and 217) conducted on the structural and chemical analogue, Didecyldimethylammonium chloride (DDAC), indicates that there is no long-term adverse influence on the nitrogen and carbon transformations in soils. In addition DDAC does not bioaccumulate to any great extent in aquatic organism as demonstrated by a measured whole body BCFaquatic of 81 and a depuration DT50 of between 7 and 14 days. Hence, accumulation in terrestrial organisms is unlikely and no study is required.
