Description of key information

With high probability acute not harmful to fish, no toxic effects occur at the range of solubility.

Additional information

For octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate two static studies in fish (bluegill and rainbow trout) are available. Both were performed according to the OECD guideline, except that the exposure solutions were prepared using a dispersant (>100 mg/l). Test concentrations were 0, 10, 18, 32, 58 and 100 mg/L. Measured concentrations were greatly in excess of the water solubility of octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionate. No treatment related mortality was observed. The 96-h LC50 for both species was >100 mg/L and thus above the water solubility (Ciba-Geigy, 1984 a and b).
