Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In accordance with Annex VIII, No. 9.2.2.1, column 2, no testing is required because the substance is readily biodegradable. However, a reliable (with restrictions) publication on atmospheric degradation is available (Gallego-Iniesta García et al., 2010). In this study, rate coefficients at room temperature for the reactions of 2-ethyl-1-hexanol with OH and NO3 radicals and with Cl atoms were determined. These clearly indicate that reaction with OH is the most relevant degradation process for this compound in the atmosphere. In this case a rate constant of 1.13 x 10^(-11) cm^3 /(molecule x s) and an atmospheric lifetime of 24.6 h was determined. The determined rate coefficients are consistent with the expected reactivity given the chemical structure of this compound.
