Description of key information

Adsorption / desorption:

C9-14 Aliphatics (2-25% aromatics)are hydrocarbon UVCBs. Standard tests for this endpoint are intended for single substances and are not appropriate for these complex substances. However, this endpoint is characterized using quantitative structure property relationships for representative hydrocarbon structures that comprise the hydrocarbon blocks used to assess the environmental risk of this substance with the PETRORISK model (see Product Library in PETRORISK spreadsheet attached to IUCLID section 13).

Adsorption of Hydrocarbons, C10 -C13, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2 -25%) calculated in PETRORISK is ca. 3.50.

Distribution modelling:

The distribution of C9-14 Aliphatics (2-25% aromatics)in the environmental compartments, air, water, soil, and sediment, has been calculated using the PETRORISK Model, version 5.0. Computer modeling is an accepted method for estimating the environmental distribution of chemicals. Distribution modeling results are included in the 'Multimedia distribution modeling results' tab in the PETRORISK spreadsheet attached to IUCLID section 13.

Based on the regional scale exposure assessment, the multimedia distribution of Hydrocarbons, C9-C12, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2-25%) is 96 % to air, 1.4 % to water, 0.077 % to soil and 1.3 % to sediment.

Based on the regional scale exposure assessment, the multimedia distribution of Hydrocarbons, C10-C13, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, cyclics, aromatics (2 -25%) is 91 % to air, 1.9 % to water, 0.11 % to soil and 4.4 % to sediment.
