Description of key information

The substance was not acutely toxic to Selenastrum capricornutum at the limit of its water solubility in this study.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L

Additional information

A phytotoxicity test was conducted (to OECD guideline 201) to determine the effect of the test substance on the freshwater green alga, Selenastrum capricornutum. A limit test was initiated with one concentration of 100 mg wm/L which was applied to the medium and stirred to achieve a stable water available fraction (WAF). The criterion for effect was reduction in cell growth.

The EbC50 and ErC50 (0-72 hours) was >100 mg wm/L (WAF). The 72-hour no-observable-effect concentration (NOEC) was 100 mg wm/L (WAF).
