Additional information

The substance is not readily biodegradable. However, as the logKoc is below 3 even if the partly cationic character of the molecule was considered, a low adsorption potential is indicated. Therefore, binding to sewage sludge is unlikely and as a consequence a transfer to the soil compartment is not expected. Further, in a biodegradation test in soil (Dow, 1995), the test substance was mineralised from 66 to 72% in 20 days. Therefore, no tests on terrestrial organisms are provided.

In addition, the predicted no effect concentration (PNEC) for soil was derived from the PNEC for freshwater using the equilibrium partitioning method. Using this PNECsoil, the risk characterization shows that the PEC/PNECsoil ratio for the terrest. environment is clearly <1, indicating no need for further information and testing.
